Presentations & Talks

A History of the Croatian Naive

A 45 minute PowerPoint presentation introducing the major artists of the Croatian Naive tradition from its birth as a form of artist-activism in the 1930s, through the heyday of the 1970-80s and finishing with contemporary artists still working today. Many of these artists are not seen outside of Croatian museums and having a personal connection to many of the contemporary artists, this is a unique presentation with a very personal touch.

Presented to the British Croatian Society in 2015, which led directly to an invitation to exhibit as part of the Creative Croatia events in April 2015.

The Croatian Naive and Me

A 45 minute PowerPoint presentation focusing on the very real and direct influence the Croatian Naive tradition has had on the development of my own artwork, from process and technique to the contemporary mentors of the tradition who continue to inspire me and influence my creative practices at every level.

Audiences so far have included several community arts groups.

Art as Respite

I have two children, one a teenager on the Autistic spectrum, and caring for them is a huge part of my daily life - my creative practice feeds into my caring roles in meaningful ways, even as it keeps me sane and provides me with a professional outlet separate from my caring duties. I am happy to present talks about how my Caring and creative lives intertwine, tailored to your group’s interests and to the time you have available.

I also offer Creative Carers taster sessions for local Carer Pamper days, allowing you and your group to explore the mental health benefits of participating in low key, low stress creative activities. Recent and upcoming events include speaking to the Hassocks Carers Support Group and hosting a drop in activity table at the Haywards Heath Carers Pamper Day.

A small fee to cover materials may apply though I try to keep costs to a minimum.

Please contact me via the Contact Page to arrange for me to speak to your group.

For the time being I do not charge a speaker’s fee, though my travel and/or childcare costs will need to be reimbursed. I am happy to provide free estimates to help you plan your event.

Croatian Connections

I can also help to arrange itineraries and introductions for those travelling to Croatia and who would like to learn more about the Naive tradition, make studio visits and/or purchase work direct from the artists while in the region.

Please contact me via the Contact Page for more details.

I do not charge for any introductions and do not get any commission from artists on any sales. I do this because the artists are friends, I admire their work and I think they should be better known than they are.
