When words are not enough, commission a painting.

The Commissioning Process

No commission idea is too small and while larger works have technical challenges, so far, no idea has been too big ;)

In the first conversation I will ask you about your budget, the overall design and complexity of the work and your preferred colour schemes. In this discussion I will inform you of the amount of time your project might need from start to finish and give a rough idea of price.

Once a basic outline of the project has been agreed I will prepare a written estimate of cost. Once this has been agreed in writing, I will begin work on an initial sketch based on the ideas we have discussed.

The sketch will be revised as often as necessary to ensure that I am clear about what you expect and you are happy with how I am approaching your work.

Once the sketch is complete to both our satisfaction, an advance deposit towards the final cost of the work will be asked. Once the deposit has been received I will begin work on the painting itself.

As the project progresses I will endeaver to keep you up to date with progress, checking details as necessary and, if you are in the area, you are welcome to visit the work in progress. I will only share progress photos on my social media platforms after discussion with you.

Smaller paintings (15x15 cm) take 6-9 months and larger works can take upwards of 18 months from start to finish. If you intend this work as a gift for a special occasion then I can prepare a ‘Gift in Progress’ package for you - including progress photos and a personalised notecard - at no extra charge.
