I spent a slightly grey day in June out at Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre,
keeping company with a hat maker, a lace maker and quilter in the Hayloft
as we demonstrated our crafts, gossiped and giggled during the
inaugural Traditional Crafts weekend.
Outside there were ceramic painters, blacksmiths, spinners and knitters,
jam producers, homemade soaps and a lampshade maker,
among others.
Traditional crafts with a contemporary twist
and many makers happy to share their secrets.
It was a great day out, seeing behind the finished products
and meeting so many creative craftspeople.
With special thanks to the Amberley Working Museum camera volunteers:
David Ballantyne
for filming a small taste of 'life in the slow lane' above
and Pete Edgeler
for catching me in one of my frequent breaks to talk with visitors.
